Locust Grove Elementary Volunteer Program

Parents,

Volunteers play a vital role is a school’s success. This year Locust Grove Elementary is excited to implement a formal Volunteer Program. Our goal is to insure that every teacher is supported with regular attending volunteers to support instructional needs.

Mission Statement

All educators and volunteers will work together in a cooperative partnership to enrich student achievement through a supportive and positive environment.

What is a Volunteer Program and how will our school benefit?
A formal “Volunteer Program” is organized to insure that all classrooms are supported by volunteers. Teachers are given the extra assistance necessary to provide the highest level of education for all children. Volunteers may either choose to be partnered with a classroom teacher to assist his/her needs, help in the library, or work in the workroom as an office volunteer (copies & laminating).

Who is a volunteer?
A volunteer is a person who chooses to dedicate his/her time to support and assist the educator’s instructional needs.

What is the time commitment?
A volunteer’s time is valuable and beneficial. Volunteers are needed for support in the classroom (weekly), monthly events, PTA programs, etc. Any amount of time you can commit is beneficial!

How do I become a volunteer?
All volunteers must complete a registration form (below), criminal records check, and confidentiality training through our school counselor, Ms. Voegele. Once these steps are completed parents will receive notification of their teacher partnership.

When can I begin to volunteer?
As educators it is essential that we spend the first several weeks establishing our community, building relationships, and setting clear expectations for our students. Once all paperwork and training(s) are completed parents will receive notification of teacher partnerships. Teachers will then contact their parent(s) to begin their partnerships. Please be mindful that some educators may need more time establishing their classroom communities than others.

What are the expectations once I arrive?
All volunteers will be asked to sign-in at the front desk upon arrival (Volunteer Sign-In Sheet), record volunteer hours, and wear a volunteer badge.
It is important that all volunteers understand the importance of being dependable and punctual. If you are unable to make your scheduled time, please contact the necessary individual(s).

We greatly appreciate your willingness and eagerness to volunteer at Locust Grove Elementary. We look forward to a great year!!

Note: It is fine to leave the teacher name blank for now. We can go back and put that information in later. Thanks!
