These meets are typically on Saturday morning/early afternoon however some are scheduled during the week. Race distances will vary from 1 mile to 1.8 miles. Intramural runners will never race more than 1 mile.

Who can participate?

Incoming 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders attending Locust Grove Elementary.

What does the program involve?

The team practices Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after school until 3:45 for the months of August (beginning on the 12th), September, and October. State Meet (end of Oct/beginning of Nov) will end the season for travel runners. The last race for intramural runners will be our Pumpkin Run in late Oct. Each practice will be different and will include work on speed, endurance, hills and fun running activities.

Important notes:

Hydration is key to training. Make sure your child is taking in plenty of water throughout the day and after running, particularly during these hot summer days. It is important that your child be eating healthy because it is their fuel for running. Please make sure that your child has proper running shoes. Having a quality shoe can prevent injuries and keep tired legs fresher.

Please encourage your child at home. Runners require great mental strength, a positive attitude and patience in building speed and endurance. It is a rewarding sport and the season will be packed with fun and friendship for the runners! We are looking forward to the 2010 season and hope you’ll join the fun!
